Teatro De La Crisis

Resumen del Libro:

libro Teatro De La Crisis

This Dissertation analyzes three Mexican plays written and performed in the turning of the 20th Century. During the period considered in this study, 1994-2000, Mexico suffered the worst political, economical, and social crises in its contemporary history, and Mexican playwrights captured in their dramas not just the effects, but, most importantly, the roots of the crises, and some of them even offer possible scenarios for the near future. The theoretical approach to analyze these plays draws from Jurgen Habermas theory of legitimation crisis and Diana Taylors study of theatre of crisis. In short, the Dissertation shows the plurality of messages, technical procedures and styles, generated by these unparalleled crises, and takes into account those theatrical discourses which are either utopian or critical. This methodology attempts to seek a way of finding the specific characteristics in the dramaturgical texts in order to look for a new historicizing model of criticism for those texts, instead of the stylistic or generational studies.
