El Jade Y El Chamán

Archaeological study on various Pre-Columbian jadeite and similar greenstones objects crafted by the Guanacaste people, in northern Costa Rica along the Tempisque River, as talismans and for religious purposes. The various pendants and decorative objects with zoomorphic, avian and human- Shaman (Demon) designs were illegally obtained by huaqueros (looters) who keep the excavation sites in secret, so there is little relation between the names and the archaeological material for these pieces.
