Clemencia : Novel And Mirror Of Mexican Modernization

This project serves the purpose of examining how Clemencia, written by Ignacio Altamirano, projects the ideals of modernization and social conduct of the new autonomous nation of Mexico. This theme called my attention because I wanted to investigate something about womens roles and how their roles have modernized throughout the years. First of all, we will see the role of women in the nineteenth century in order to comprehend the connection that exists between their modernized role and the modernization of Mexican society. We will also review the goal of the author of this epic according to the studies of Maria Fernanda Lander. In the end, we see how the authors employed their works to project a mirror image of their idea of social progress.
